Help Rev. Allen Save Her Home

After over 40 years of activism and Helping her community as Founder/President of her own non-profit organization, former President of Haddington Leadership Organization, who served as Committee Person and Judge of Elections, my mother Cannot get the HELP she NEEDS NOW!! This has gone on long enough!
My mother's health over the years has been up and down but the last few years have been a real battle. She has trouble with her vision, neuropathy pain triggered by diabetes and other problems has left her in need of a wheelchair, in the last two years, she has been placed on dialysis.
She doesn't need the added stress of what's happening and has a right to be able to live in her own home!
This isn't the first time the City of Philadelphia has let our family down.
My mother has a lot of pride and asking for help is hard for her. She is used to being the champion for other people... well where is her's?
She has helped and done too much work for the City of Philadelphia and THEIR ELECTED OFFICIALS, for them to keep letting her down! All of us have ailments in my family, that makes life hard enough, this is what's happening to us now.
Back in February of 2018, we received a notice of VIOLATION informing us that our front wall's bricks were unsafe. It stated that our house would have to be torn down, while our family was living in it!! There was no prior contact which would have allowed us time to see what was needed to repair them or find, found out if we could get help doing it.
We went to the City Council, who said they would help us in this matter, that was in March. They didn't do all that they said they would do. In fact, my sick mother had to keep calling over and over again,
NO ONE EVER CALLED BACK!
My mother had to fight yet again to get the required information completed for work to even begin. We finally received what was needed in August.
PHDC approved us in September and was supposed to come out but on September 14th, the neighbors next door were told by Philadelphia Housing Authority that they had to move out of their home by September 20th (we lived where the yellow awning is). PHA was supposed to find them another PHA home being that this PHA house is destroying our house, as you can see. My mother had a medical emergency on Sept 26th, so she had to reschedule for PHDC to come out.
On the September 28th, THEIR bricks fell down partially pulling ours down as well! We can't get back into our home because L&I deemed it unsafe. They claimed they couldn't take our bricks down.
On October 4th we went back to PHDC where we were informed our CASE WAS CLOSED due to being over the initial budget of $17,000 because work would have to be done on the other property, which was being rented by Philadelphia Housing Authority and they would need permission to work on it. NO ONE called to tell my mother THIS!! We were at RED CROSS, someone could have reached out. Once they learned it was a PHA home and the documents for it were "confusing" they said that changed things.
The person at Home Improvement Programs is still waiting for an answer from PHA stating that they would let them do the work and reimburse them or vice versa. Why is PHA taking so long?? They know they will have to fix their place anyway?! PHA knew they had damage and had to get their wall repaired. Their home has been pulling down our home for a long time at this point. Clearly, they knew beforehand! Yet, they did NOTHING to brace their wall. As a matter of fact, two to three weeks prior to their bricks falling they had work done on the roof. Which may have helped cause more damage.
Right now we're trying to get a "make safe" permit so that our home can be made safe to remove the imminent danger placed on it by L&I AND having the means to then repair our home. We were getting help for our home because my mother is eligible. We don't have the means otherwise.
This happened on Thursday, October 11th due to L&I not taking the bricks down. Which we now know should have occurred on September 28th.
HOW IS THIS OKAY? How can her 40 years plus of compassion in providing and protecting her community leave her the one to be UNPROTECTED? Her health got this bad because she overworked herself to make sure others were safe! NOW it is time for some of the very same people she helped to GET IN OFFICE to do the same (protect, care and have the compassion to help others) WHY ACT BRAND NEW ???
Let's ask the people of the city and beyond... How is this okay Philadelphia?? Everyone needs to know her story, our story. Everyone needs to know now how long she has been trying and we have been fighting.
The crazy thing is even with all of this going on she is STILL giving and still trying to help others.
To everyone that finds it in their heart to give a hand, no amount is too small. We need a lot more than the $5000, but it's a start. You can reach out to us with construction materials as well. You can also help by sharing this. Nothing is too small. It is time SHE gets the help SHE needs!
