Help Rukes' Parents Post Accident
Donation protected
I have had a successful photographic career in the music industry as Rukes since 2004 in the dance music industry, and a lot of the early stages in my growth I have to give credit to my best friend and father. He helped support me when I was in the early stages; with deciding to switch from a 9-5 job and dive right into photography, for helping me acquire my first camera gear, to even helping behind-the-scenes such as helping to register my business as a corporation to finding a lawyer to represent my business.
I would not be where I am without their help and support up until present day.
Now the situation is reversed, and I am doing whatever I can to support them while they are in dire straits, which is why I am doing this GoFundMe. Now I am asking my fans and friends that are in the music industry to help me help my parents.
In early 2017, my parents got into a serious car accident. They were hit by a speeding car going 70mph in a 35mph zone at an intersection, and totaled the car they were in.
My mom in the passenger side got some internal injuries, but my dad has major injuries with some neurological damage from a major concussion, including TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), expressive aphasia, and has also developed severe depression and PTSD. He was unable to properly walk or talk for the first few months, and lost most of his clientele at work, dramatically decreasing his income.
He has had to go to a neurologist, Orthopedic Surgeon, PTSD Psychologist, Cognitive Therapy, Physical Therapy and a Neuropsychologist. He is currently considered in a guarded state with possible onset of early dementia.
Their debt has added up and they are on the verge of losing everything they have, including their wedding rings they pawned off. They are scared and terrified of what the near future holds for them, and I fear for my father’s well-being, he’s very depressed and feeling suicidal. He has suffered from being bi-polar a majority of his life, and through medical help has brought it down to level 2, however the accident has recently brought him up to bi-polar level 1.
My parents mean the world to me, and I wish I had the means to help them. My father has been through a lot in his life, such as the previously referenced long-term battle with bi-polar disorder and surviving both the 1993 World Trade Center bombing as well as a survivor of 9/11. They have no family members or friends that can help them.
The money donated will go first and foremost to help take care of my father's mental condition. He currently plans to commit himself to a mental health facility for a period of time for medical, theraputic and psychological care, for however long it takes, to have his bi-polar disorder under control. His main priority is to finally get rid of his bi-polar problem.
Second, the money will go to helping my parents move to an apartment they can afford while they save the money they earn to live on a daily basis as well as attempt to recover items they have pawned off.
Third, any money past them bettering themselves and thier lives will go to help pay off the medical debit and later personal debit, giving them leeway to resume any needed physical therapy already recommended.
Although the goal is set as the maximum they would ever need to clear everything up, even meeting half the goal will be considered a gigantic help and a success while covering the three points above. Anything you can contribute would be a blessing and will go a long way in the end to help.
