Essentially Ellington Competition Trip
The superbowl of competitions for high school jazz ensembles.
-We want the whole team to be able to go.
All the kids in our group deserve to go, but not all have families with means to pay for their travel to this prestigious event.
- Money should not be a barrier keeping a student from participating in this honor.
The Edmonds -Woodway High School Jazz Ensemble 1 has been selected as one of 15 finalists nation wide to participate in this year's Essentially Ellington Competition in May (sponsored by Wynton Marsalis and Jazz@Lincoln Center).
Music director Jake Bergevin and 23 students are polishing the brass, tightening the strings and drumming up support to help them get there.
