Ros joins Philippine Womens Team!!
Our daughter, Rosalyn de Castro was given the opportunity to join the Philippines Women's Hockey team at the Hockey 5's Tournament in Hong Kong this May!
She started playing hockey at the age of 9; with dreams of one day competing in the Olympics. In fact, when she won a TOFA (The Outstanding Filipino-Americans in New York City) Award in 2012, her winning essay included dreams of one day playing in the Winter Olympics.
Hockey has provided an incredible experience for her; as well as life-long friendships and incredible moments featuring both team, and individual, successes.
Participating in an international hockey tournament, while representing her country was something that she has always set as a personal goal.
We have started a GoFundMe to help Rosalyn take the first step in a childhood dream of competing in an international competition. The Hockey 5’s Tournament, May 1st - May 7th, 2017, features some of the best hockey players in South East Asia competing for one of the more coveted trophies in the hockey season. While this is an unbelievable opportunity, it is a pretty large financial undertaking.
This tournament will allow for more opportunities with Hockey Philippines, eventually leading up to her first game in an IIHF Tournament with the Philippines Women's Team!
The moneys raised in this GoFundMe campaign will help offset the significant cost of travel, lodging, as well as the fees assessed in order to get her equipment overseas, not only for this tournament, but for future trips and tournaments with Hockey Philippines.
Just to clarify, our family will be accompanying her, but funds raised will go to Rosalyn's development, training, travel, lodging.
