Our dear friends at B's Cracklin' Barbeque whose owner, Bryan Furman, was just named a James Beard semifinalist for Best Chef Southeast, was destroyed in an early morning fire. According to Atlanta fire officials, the blaze began around 2 am, Wednesday, March 6th, in the restaurant's pit area and was so intense that it wasn't fully extinguished until around 6 am. The restaurant's roof collapsed during the blaze.
This is the second time Furman has lost a restaurant to a fire, according to Fox 5. Furman opened his Atlanta location in 2016 after his first restaurant in Savannah was also destroyed in a fire. Eater Atlanta reports Furman and his wife and business partner Nikki Furman rebuilt their first restaurant with the help of the community four months later.
Our barbecue community is tight, and we want to support our friends during this difficult time. We're hoping these funds will help during the rebuilding process, as well as, support their staff while not being able to work.
We love you and are here to support you, Bryan and Nikki. This is a minor setback for a MAJOR comeback. Godspeed.
