OUR STORY
My name is Claudel Louis, and I’m raising funds for my son, Taharka, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) when he was 12 years old, on January 30, 2024.
Taharka is a bright, kind, and hardworking boy who has always brought joy to everyone around him. He’s a straight-A Honor Roll student at Coral Springs Middle School, a proud member of the 5,000 Role Models Club, and an inspiration to his teachers and peers. Even after his diagnosis, he continues to attend 8th grade virtually, refusing to let cancer stop him from pursuing his dreams.
THE CHALLENGE
Since his diagnosis, Taharka has been receiving intensive chemotherapy treatments at Broward Health and currently, at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. His doctors have outlined a 3-year treatment plan, and while we are doing everything we can as a family to stay strong, the medical bills, hospital stays, and unexpected costs have been overwhelming.
Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket expenses for ongoing treatments, medications, and specialist visits are outstanding.
The financial burden has added an extra layer of stress to an already challenging journey.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
We created this GoFundMe campaign to help cover:
• Medical expenses not covered by insurance
• Specialized hospital care and procedures
• Unexpected hospitalization costs
• Basic living expenses during periods when work has been impacted
So far, the love and generosity of friends, family, coworkers, and Good Samaritans have helped us raise over $28,000. We are incredibly grateful for every single donation, prayer, and share.
But we are still just shy of our $30,000 goal — the amount needed to fully support Taharka’s 3-year treatment plan and give him the best chance to beat leukemia.
HOW YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Donate: No amount is too small — even $1 makes a difference.
Share: Spreading this campaign link helps us reach others who may be able to support.
Pray & Encourage: Your words of kindness and support lift Taharka’s spirits and give him strength.
Every act of support, whether financial or spiritual, brings us that much closer to seeing Taharka healthy, thriving, and cancer-free.
A FATHER’S PROMISE
As a father, I’ve always believed in the saying: “It takes a village to raise a child.” Today, I am humbled to see that village come together for my son. I will continue to do everything in my power to help my son recover as I believe that faith, without works is dead. (James 2:14-26 KJV)
At 13 years old, Taharka is living up to his name, fighting with courage, determination, and resilience. I named him after the brave King Tirhakah, who God sent to rescue his people from invaders, (2 Kings 19:9 KJV) because his sonogram showed Taharka was born with a very big heart.
We are standing beside him every step of the way. With your help, we can give him the treatment he needs to make a full recovery!
I’m happy to announce that since my son’s diagnosis he has gone from a Level 4 to a Level 5 in school for the state test in the virtual learning program.
Taharka was also very happy have had the pleasure of attending my big brother’s graduation, seeing him off to the Navy and meeting Taylor Swift:
From the bottom of my heart - thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and for being part of our village.
Please continue share with everyone you can. Any amount you can give will bring Taharka that much closer to regaining his health. May God bless you for your kindness.
Stay tuned for updates on his progress!
