Help Texans Understand Trans Issues

Knowledge is power. Based on some of the legislature going through Texas this year, it appears that many of our elected officials are not knowledgeable when it comes to transgender people and how policies can help or hurt them.


So let's educate them! We're raising funds to give a copy of Becoming Nicole by Amy Ellis Nutt to each of our 181 Texas State legislators as well as our Governor Greg Abbott and Lieut. Governor Dan Patrick. Becoming Nicole is the inspiring true story of a transgender girl, her identical twin brother, and an ordinary American family’s extraordinary journey to understand, nurture, and celebrate the uniqueness in us all, from the Pulitzer Prize–winning science reporter for The Washington Post. A must-read if you're looking to understand the complexities of gender.

The books will be distributed on Monday, March 6 as part of the Texas Trans Lobby Day that's being hosted by the Trans Education Network of Texas (TENT) with support from ACLU Texas. Each copy is $12.50, and any size donation is greatly appreciated. If we exceed our goal, the funds will be used to help transport folks to the lobby day.
