This fundraiser is set up by Diane Maxwell for Latifa the amazing dog.
May 2019: Latifa still needs a TPLO surgery to resolve an issue from an injury to her knee during her former life prior to rescue. She went in for surgery for a growth to be removed from her throat and now that its healed she needs the TPLO surgery now....
According to xrays read by both her Veterinarian and an Orthopedic Surgeon they will need to do a TPLO (tibial plateau leveling osteotomy) as well as clean out the old injury area in the knee. They said its a mess in there per xray. The cleaning will include cleaning out all the pieces as well as the calcification/ mineralization that has grown there.
This is all because prior owner didnt take care of injury when it first happened. This surgery will help to make her more comfortable and she will no longer be in pain. They also said she will get back some flexibility with her knee as well as the fact it will slow down the progression of arthritis.
We have no idea what happened in her life before rescue to cause such an injury but there is a lot of damage to her knee, per xray. Considering the fact, based on her behavior and what she tells us with it, she clearly appears to have been exposed to abuse and violence. All we know is we want her to feel better and 100% again
****Let me tell you a little about this amazing dog who needs your help:****
Latifa was dumped at a kill shelter that was notorious for not only killing hundreds of dogs a month, but dogs that look like her don't usually even get a chance. If a dog is a pitbull or part pitbull, assumed to be,or looks anything like a pitbull they have no chance. They are hustled off to the section to be euthanized. She sat there in her cage awaiting death probably in pain from a serious injury to her knee, smelling death, seeing dogs leave and never coming back to their pens. She was not brought in due to biting and was not listed as a danger.
She was dumped by her owner not only suffering from the aforementioned injury, but she was also still heavily lactating. This means she had been yanked away from her litter of puppies and dumped off to a kill shelter with no thought or care that she would be killed.
People whom donated ,will receive a thank you note signed by Latifa upon receiving email or snail mail to send it to. We can also send updates on her progress during surgery and recovery.
Please dont let her be ignored again, she almost died because of that before.
Thank you

****About us****
As some of you may know , we have been caring for and taking in animals to live out their lives with us at our homes. Ones in need of rescue, hard to place, at risk,
discarded ones in need of hospice care,
unwanted seniors, abandoned or dumped in the yard, as well as animals just in need of a new home or in need of temporary living space till their family can take them back home etc etc.
They need someone to care for them and give them the security of knowing they are safe and in their forever home and that they will be loved and cared for their full lifespan.
We have been doing this out of our own pocket for over 16years.
We now have a test run fundraiser going to see if we can make it financially prudent for us to continue our work and take in animals in need in the future...
People ask all the time why we do this telling us the animals we take in weren't and aren't our responsibility. I have had people tell me I should let them just be killed at the kill shelters,or shipped out for slaughter.
Well I don't agree. We've had a problem in our Country for a while now with an overwhelming amount of discarded and unwanted animals along with a lack of respect for the life of an animal.
We feel its everyones responsibility till its resolved. Everyone needs to do their part to have enough of an impact and help bring about positive change.
Sadly only a few of the animals we have taken in were from loving homes that cared enough to be sure the animal was going to be cared for.
More education to the young is needed, more support to those struggling through hard times trying to keep the family pet , more volunteers to shelters, more homes to place animals in need, more funding ,less finger pointing and judging and more hands out to help one another.
No matter how big or small of a role you play in this animal crisis in our Country it will make a difference because it all adds up.
Please reshare.
Thanks
