Help us build Aloha Animal Sanctuary
Donation protected
Aloha Animal Sanctuary is Oahu's first non-profit sanctuary for rescued pigs, cows, goats, and other farmed animals. Our mission is to provide forever homes for these animals in need. We hope to be a safe haven not just for animals, but for the community, as well. A place where farmed animals can live freely and in peace, and a place where children and their families can visit and connect with them. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we will be funding our day-to-day operations through donations from people like you.
WHO WE ARE:
Aloha Animal Sanctuary was started by four friends and animal rights activists. We are united by our dedication to advocating for and improving the lives of animals. Living on O’ahu, Hawai’i, we became intimately aware of the cows, pigs, sheep, and other farmed animals around us who were suffering, needed help, and had no safe place to go.
We knew we needed to do something, so we created Aloha Animal Sanctuary, O'ahu's first non-profit farm sanctuary. Now, we need your help to make our vision a reality.
WHERE YOUR DONATIONS WILL GO:
We are a completely volunteer-run organization; none of our team members receive compensation. All of the money we raise goes towards providing care for the animals, and enables us to rescue and bring more animals to our sanctuary.
Aloha Animal Sanctuary officially opened its doors and welcomed its first resident, Haku, on 1/1/19. Haku is a 350 pound pig who was raised for his meat on a backyard farm and was going to be someone's Thanksgiving meal. He was brought to the attention of the sanctuary, and we were able to save his life.
Here Haku is, free, at Aloha Animal Sanctuary!
So far, using donations like yours, we have:
- Built Haku's home and fenced his enclosure
- Purchased food and bedding for Haku
- Purchased a tool shed, tools and supplies to care for the sanctuary
Our next plan of action is to:
- Create a quarantine enclosure for our next rescue pig (who will eventually move in with Haku)
- Create a second enclosure and shelter that will be home to two cows
- Create a small animal enclosure for bunnies
- Create a small enclosure for injured birds including chickens and ducks
- Build a sustainable toilet on-site for volunteers
- Plant gardens, fruit trees, and other edible plants that can be fed to the animals (and their human volunteers!)
Ongoing costs include:
- Animals' veterinary bills
- Animals' food
- Animals' straw/bedding
In addition, we are currently pursuing purchasing a larger piece of property for the Sanctuary’s eventual, permanent home. The more money we raise, the more animals we can save, together. We can only be successful with your help.
OUR VISION
As we grow, we hope to be a safe haven not only for farmed animals, but also for the community. We see ourselves as a place where individuals and families can visit to learn about and interact with farmed animals they may have never met or would rarely see. We hope to foster meaningful relationships between the public and our Aloha Animal Sanctuary residents.
It takes a village, and we couldn't do it without our supporters like YOU!
