Help us save the Ethiopian Wolf

Donation protected
The Ethiopian wolf is one the most endangered species in the world, and probably the most endangered species you have never heard of. There are less than 500 of these amazing animals left with none in captivity, making it the most endangered carnivore in Africa and most endangered Canid (dog like) species in the world. Despite their low numbers they do not receive the same attention as the other charismatic large carnivores, like lions and tigers. Even if there is less attention there is still a dedicated team that do everything they can to help protect these animals and we need your help. The wolves are threatened by diseases spread from domestic dogs in the mountains of Ethiopia where they live. To save this species we need a new plan for consevation but this needs research, data and most importantly funds. Money raised here will be used to build GPS collars that will tell us about the movements of the animals. Anything in excess of this will be used in other parts of the projects, paying field assistants, buying vaccines or numerous other expenses. Crowd-funding for science is starting to become a new way for scientists to raise money quickly and outside the many limitations of grants, it also allows the public to really engage with science and contribute directly. Raising this money would be an incredibly important part of our research and your support would be an amazing contribution to the conservation of a species on the brink of extinction.
