Help With Brittany's Cancer Treatment

Hi Everyone,

For those that don't know me personally, my name is Brittany. I'm 37 years old and an aunt to 2 beautiful nephews and a gorgeous niece (and mother to my beloved rescue dog Brandan).

Just under a month ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my left breast and referred to a specialist breast surgeon. I will have to undergo surgery, followed by radiation therapy and possibly chemotherapy as well.

I initially had 2 lumps on my left breast, but another scan has revealed that the cancer has unfortunately spread into another sperate lump adjoining the cancerous lump (all in the space of a few weeks). In the meantime, I still need further scans and tests on my right breast where I have 4 more suspicious lumps.

My doctors and specialists have also advised me that breast cancer is more aggressive in women under 40 years of age and have a higher chance of recurring after treatment. With this in mind, I consulted with a specialist cancer centre overseas which offers immunotherapy cancer treatment to give me the best possible chance of fighting this horrible disease.

The immunotherapy treatment has a very high success rate and complements traditional cancer treatments like radiation therapy and chemotherapy. I feel by doing this I will give myself the best opportunity to beat my breast cancer once and for all.

Immunotherapy for cancer treatment is not offered in Australia until one has undergone surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy and this has all not been successful or the cancer has returned and treatment has not been successful the second time around. (Basically, until you are on your last legs). This is the reason why I have come here.

I am very keen on doing the immunotherapy treatment as this could mean that I could potentially avoid chemotherapy. I would love to have children down the track and chemotherapy could close that opportunity for myself, and given my age, I don't really have a great deal of time on my side in this regard.

I also live in regional NewSouth Wales and going to see specialists and accessing radiologists and cancer treatments means a more than 2 and a half hour trip each way (more than 5 hours round trip) to Sydney and overnight accommodation, so I am unable to work full-time. This has put me in a situation where I am under great financial strain.

It is with a humble heart that I am asking you to please help by donating anything that you can to help me access the specialists and cancer treatments in Sydney, the much-needed immunotherapy drugs that are not available in Australia and to help with basic expenses during this very difficult time.

Life is precious and fragile and I don't want to take any day I have for granted.  I have much to live for and feel that by giving myself the best chance now, I will be able to help people in my situation down the track.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
