Help WW2 vet recover after blaze
Donation protected
In the early evening of 29 April 2018, a plume of smoke blanketed Salisbury on Brisbane's Southside as 99 year old WW2 veteran Bob fought to escape his fire-filled home with his life.
As neighbours rushed to his aid he watched helplessly as the fire destroyed his home, all his possessions and claimed the lives of his beloved dogs.
Luckily his medals were found in the rubble.
Bob was lucky to escape and is now in hospital recovering as family, friends and the community rally around the war veteran who has given so much to others.
The community now has a chance to give back to Bob through this campaign.
Donate now to help him recover and rebuild his life. All money will go to Bob so he can buy essential items and find a place to live where he can feel safe and supported during his recovery. It will also go towards covering/sorting out damage caused by the fire.
The go fund me page has been set up to ensure the funds transfer directly to Bob's bank account which is being managed in collaboration with his Power of Attorney so he doesn't need to worry. His Power of Attorney is keeping a general ledger of all in and outgoing funds and how they will be used.
As for me, I'm a neighbour of Bob's in Chalfont Street Salisbury who is just trying to help out. I'm working with his Power of Attorney and those who care for him regularly in Chalfont Street to organise the fundraiser. Bob's family are supportive of the fundraiser and Bob, while confused by all the fuss, is grateful for the community support.
