Car needed for single mom to work

I am dealing with a current struggle that I have tried to solve on my own. I've come to the point where I know I have to swallow my pride and ask for help.

I am a single mother of two beautiful children who are 10 and 6.. I provide solely for my kids as their fathers do not help consistently.

A few months ago I was laid off from my job and I need to go back to work full time.

I've had a hard time going to interviews because my car has died and is not able to be fixed. It was a 99 Ford explorer and it got me where I needed to go for several years.

My ex husband offered to help me buy a reliable car by providing the down payment.

I was so happy to think that I would have safe, reliable, transportation for the kids and be able to go back and forth to work.

He took me to a local dealership. We found a nice Hyundai Elantra, with low mileage, at an affordable price. I was able to obtain financing and my Ex husband committed to paying the down payment of 2300.00. I signed the contract and applicable paperwork and he said he would return within a week to pay the down payment and we'd pick up the car.

Weeks have passed, and after many broken promises and excuses, he's finally made it clear that he has more important things to worry about than whether or not I have a car. I've owned the car for several weeks now and I've already made my first car payment. Now I have an insurance payment coming up.

Because the down payment hasn't been paid I have never been able to take possession of the vehicle. The car is sitting at the dealership. I purchased the car so I could go on interviews and get back to work. But, if I can't drive the car, I can't work and therefore cannot afford to pay for the car. It's a vicious circle.

My father and I met with the manager at the dealership to see if there is anything we could do to remedy this situation.

We are unable to cancel the contract and they will not let me take the car until I have paid the down payment. At first I was told that If I cannot come up with the money the car will be repossessed. This would be a financial disaster for me.

The manager listened to my problem and had a compassionate heart toward my children and me. He said that he would hold the car until I can pay off the down payment. I am so thankful for this!

I've prayed about it and decided that perhaps God would allow others to read about my problem and feel moved to help in some small way. Someone told me that "a lot of people, doing just a little bit, can make a big difference." If you're able to assist I would appreciate it so much.

I live on the "pass it along plan" and look forward to getting back on my feet and being able to help those behind me.

Thank you for taking time to learn about my need. Praying God's blessings over you and your family.
