Clara's medical fund

On the first Sunday morning of October, 10-year old Clara Falconer was playing with her sisters when her head began to hurt. Minutes later, in the local ER, her voice became a pleading whisper as her body was wracked with pain. Clara was born with an Arteriovenous Malformation (an abnormal connection between veins and arteries) in the right side of her head. This AVM ruptured without warning, and three lobes of her brain were subjected to intense pressure from internal bleeding.
Clara was life-flighted from home in Northern Idaho to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA. That evening, in Seattle, Clara had a 4" section of her skull removed to ease pressure in a procedure known as a decompressive craniectomy. Clara is currently in Seattle Children's Center, receiving the finest medical treatment available, and her family is by her side. The healing process is expected to take months to years. At some point in the future, gamma knife radiation treatment may diminish the risk of recurrence.
