Help Craig Cadwallader Recover
Donation protected
Our tireless environmental champion of the sea, Craig Cadwallader, of Surfrider Foundation's South Bay Chapter, was suddenly struck down by illness last week, and had to be rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. After six hours in the operating room, Craig's life was saved, but he's still in intensive care and faces a tough road to recovery ahead. And that's where we can help.
Craig has always put his Surfrider Foundation mission before himself, typically working 16 hours a day, seven days a week while neglecting his health and the need for sleep in favor of getting one more City to ban oil drilling, or the use of plastic bags, or cigarette smoking on the beach, or styrofoam, plastic straws, and other plastic products that wind up in the oceans and filling our storm drains.
Now Craig is paying the price for his ceaseless devotion to the work he has always done as an unpaid volunteer - both physically and financially. He had a lapse in insurance coverage when this unexpectedly happened, and the costs of emergency surgery, over a week now in the hospital, and his eventual recovery are unfortunately very high. We are very grateful that he's still with us, and he's going to need our help as his friends and members of the communities he has dedicated himself to for so long.
Craig would never ask for himself, and he's going to be pissed that we're putting this out there, but we wouldn't ask if he didn't need and deserve our support. Thanks in advance for your kindness and compassion.
