Build a boarding school in Kenya

Three years ago, we volunteered in the second largest slum in the world located in Nairobi, Kenya. We taught english, science, and math at Damside Preparatory School to a group of very intelligent, motivated and spirited young students. To this day, we continue to support them -- even though we're thousands of miles apart. 

Many of these students (ranging from 5 to 12 years old) are orphans whose parents died from HIV/AIDs, slum crime, and malnutrition. They have little to nothing, yet they find a way to smile and laugh every day.

300 kids attend Damside, which is the size of only three small bedrooms. Their school is made of sheet metal with no working electricity.

Our goal is to give the kids at Damside a means to grow, live, and learn to their fullest potential. 100% of the funds you donate will go towards building the new school and dormitory, clothing, and food for the students.  This campaign will cover the first phase of the buildout. 

Here's an idea of the kind of difference your donations can make: 

Clothing, Food and Bedding:
- $50 will provide a matress + bedding for one student
- $60 will feed a student for an entire term
- $100 will clothe a student for one year

Building Materials for New Boarding School:
- $10 will supply 5kgs of roofing nails
- $15 will provide 7 litres of paint
- $25 will provide one roofing iron sheet
- $75 will provide 3 tons of ballast, sand or a lorry of building blocks
- $500 can buy a 5000 litre water tank
- $1000 can install electricity in the new school campus
