Your Help Can Save Erin's Life

Donation protected
Erin Dance, pictured above, is the darling daughter of Terry and Diane Dance. She has a rare bond as a sister to Jason and Ashley and is an amazing auntie to little Lion, their son. She is also blessed to have JW Tatum as the love of her life. Professionally, Erin is a practicing criminal lawyer, currently living in Vancouver, BC. Up until a short time ago she was living her dream. Her life was unfolding in amazing ways and her future seemed filled with limitless possibilities. All of that, however, came to a crashing halt on the 16th of April, 2016, when out of nowhere she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

While Leukemia, in its many forms, can be a very treatable disease, Erin’s case is complicated. Since that dreadful day in April, she has undergone three rounds of chemotherapy. Each time her hope that she would be cured was raised, only to be dashed by more disappointing news. The only way to eradicate the Leukemia cells from her body is to have a stem cell transplant. The wonderful news is that Erin has a perfect stem cell match in her brother Jason. The match is so good it was described as 'winning the lottery'. Unfortunately, she has to be in remission to receive the stem cell transplant and none of the rounds of chemotherapy succeeded in that. All of the options which are currently available (in Canada) have been tried. All that is left for Erin in the Canadian medical system is palliative care. But, there are options elsewhere! There is hope elsewhere! Not for palliative care, but for life.

Erin has been accepted for consultation and treatment at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. This is one of the finest cancer treatment centres in the world. It would appear that there are clinical trials available that look promising for Erin’s form of Leukemia. The MD Anderson Center offers Erin the possibility of life and for that we are enormously thankful.

There is a problem, however. Because Erin will be a Canadian citizen being treated in the United States, the costs will be beyond belief. The consultation alone is $40,000 USD. Participation in the clinical trials, leading to a stem cell transplant, will clearly involve costs well in excess of $250,000 USD. That is an almost insurmountable challenge.

As difficult, awkward and humbling as it is, we are approaching friends, colleagues, acquaintances and caring individuals, some who have never met Erin, with the hope of raising the funds necessary to save Erin’s life. If you feel moved to contribute to this fund, you can play a part in securing a future for this remarkable young woman through 'GoFundMe'. The time is short. This is the last option.

Sincerely,
