Helping Hearts Homeless foundation
Donation protected
This project was started in 2011 in the hope of supporting people in the Greater Manchester area that are sleeping rough.
We began with 2 women walking the streets with a flask and biscuits unsure if they would see any homeless people, but they did, too many in fact.
It soon became obvious what these people needed.... they needed other people!!
Our aim has always been to build relationships built on trust, this has taken time and a lot of commitment but we are now heavily involved and accepted within the homeless community.
we support people on a daily basis meeting basic needs of food, warm clothing, sleeping bags and whatever else is needed.
Following on from this we have been privileged to get to know people and the stories behind what brought someone to the lowest point of their life.
We now support in many different ways, we have helped people gain employment, permanent accomadation, reunite with estranged family members.
We also have helped people access support through the mental health sector, going to appointments with people who have been too afraid to seek out help alone.
We managed to help signpost people to residential rehabilitation centres so to begin the first steps in their journey of building their life back together.
We have had many success stories with people now in full time employment and education, some have their own homes.
We have also had some very sad, heartbreaking stories, we have lost too many friends along the way to pneumonia, poor living conditions, suicide and hyperthermia.
This year we have our annual fundraiser, we only do this once a year because we are not about constantly asking for financial aid, we do of course take donations of clothing, food and other items all year round.
While of course we do receive support in these areas it sometimes isn't enough to meet the high demand so we fundraise once a year in the hope of raising funds to help purchase supplies.
Any help at all will be so greatly appreciated be it a donation of money, supplies or your time volunteering in distributing food etc
If anyone would like to contact us directly then please feel free via our website where you will find all contact details.
