Helping Us While Helping Others
Donation protected
My name is Ashley Sellars and sadly I am in an unfamiliar place in my life. Early Saturday morning, my family was awakened by two strangers who were passing by and noticed that our house was on fire. After we safely exited the house, we stood across the street and watched as our memories and all of our earthly possessions burned away before our eyes.
After we were able to go back into the house, everything was either destroyed by water, or by the fire, or by the ash and soot that melted away our things. Realizing that we made it out of the fire safely is a blessing, but this has not been easy for my family and it especially has not been easy for my autistic brother who does not understand why he cannot go back to his home where he is most comfortable. Consistency is key in his life and this entire ordeal is very disturbing for him.
We are asking for help in anyway possible. We are asking not only for ourselves, but also for the occupants of the house next door. We need any donations, such as: clothes, shoes, coats, and winter accessories as soon as possible.
These items can be dropped off at the following addresses:
First Corinthian Baptist Church
922 South Keeler
Chicago, Illinois
Chicago International Christian Church
211 South Laflin
Chicago, Illinois
(Whitney Young High School)
Clara's House
650 West 63rd Street
Chicago, Illinois
Any items would be appreciated. This is a tragic time for me and my family losing all of our personal possessions we are asking for help, but we also ask that you help others during this time by making donations of any kind to these organizations. We understand that many people experience fires during this time of the year, so we would greatly appreciate all help.
