Help Matthew Tufono Fight Cancer

Hello!! My name is Shannon Tufono, I am the 3rd child out of 6 and a grandson, and I am writing this on behalf of my father MATT TUFONO..... And this is HIS STORY!!!My father is the most caring, loving, supportive and funny guy you would ever meet. He always finds a way to make sure his kids had the things they needed to make the best of themselves, whether it was equipment for sports, extra books for school or food for dinner. He works hard everyday to provide for his family and will help others no matter what... He is the BEST father ever!!In December 2015 my father was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. The doctors suggested to do the aggressive chemotherapy and no one knew what to expect. After weeks of aggressive chemotherapy and radiation we watched my father fighting for his life as we all watched and prayed for healing and comfort for him...When that all was done the doctors suggested it would be best to remove his entire left lung and so he did..As we sat and watched my dad get beat down from the chemotherapy and radiation it had a big impact on our entire family. After the removal of his lung in June 2016 he was considered Cancer free!!! Wooohoooo!!!! Everything seemed to be going well....The doctors were happy with the results and so were we. Then in June of 2017 he went back for his annual check up and was told the cancer has return.... This time it was different. He had blood draining around his heart and the cancer had now spread to his spine and some to his bones. He went into emergency heart surgery to drain the fluid that was causing pressure on his heart. The doctors haven’t been too focused on the cancer then because the heart was a bigger issue. God has blessed him with a healthy heart and now the doctors are able to focus solely on his Cancer. So what does this mean? He will have to undergo another round of Chemotherapy and possibly more radiation. It’s not an easy process to go through the treatments and it’s definitely not easy watching the strongest man in my life break down because of this darn illness. His treatments are about 3 hours away from our home in San Antonio, Texas. The best MD Anderson cancer services are in Houston, TX...Chemotherapy treatment, appointment, surgery and radiation all happen in Houston. Which means co-payments for cancer patients are not cheap and if not paid no treatment. And if he goes 3 times a week it’s $200.00 a visit, not including hotel stay, gas to get there, and food for my poor mom..My mother quit her job so she would be available to care for my dad and still drop off and pick up my younger siblings, who at times have to miss school and go along with my parents because there is no one to stay home with them..So we are setting this medical GoFundMe campaign for my dad to help alleviate a lot of the stress of just him working. If we can alleviate that stress and anxiety and him eating sugar those are the culprits and what cancer feeds on - we have won the battle.. By donating as little as $5.00 would help. We are so grateful for any amount you can give. We love you all and thank you so very much God bless you all.Thank you, The Tufono Family
