Help Me Go to the UK!

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Karson Powell, and I am a freshman in college this fall.

Although I have only been in college a few weeks, I have been making a huge effort to get involved in as many things as possible around campus. I've learned to take risks for the sake of the potential payoff, whether that means taking a new class, joining a new club/organization, or simply talking to someone I haven't before. One of the unique opportunities my particular college offers is known as J-term. J-term counts as the winter semester here, where a student can take one class and focus on that class for the entire month of January. This one class can range from The World of Alexander Hamilton to Drawing to the Psychology of Supervillains. The J-term course I have chosen to participate in is a trip overseas to the United Kingdom. The trip is with the English department, and although I am a Bible & Religion major, I am so excited to learn as much as I can about the places we will be visiting.

The main reason I am choosing to travel to the UK in January is one that I think resonates with many people. One of my goals in life is to travel as much of the world as possible. I realize that I probably won't get the opportunity to travel the entire world, but just a portion of it will suffice for me. I have already gotten the opportunity to travel to Peru twice, and I intend to broaden my personal horizons. Many want to travel the world, but why? As I mentioned before, I am a Bible & Religion major. Incidentally, I am also a devout Christian. I believe in living a life of compassion and love, and I believe the gospel taught in the Bible is the story of hope. One of my favorite verses is Matthew 28:19, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations..." As a Christian I want to make it a priority to bring Jesus' message of hope and love to as many people as possible, not only to my own community but also to communities all around the world. This trip to the UK is not a mission trip, but I will still use it as a chance to show the unconditional love of Jesus to as many people as I can. Of course, this trip is also a chance for me to see more of God's beautiful creation in the world, and that can be a breathtaking and life-changing experience in itself.

The total cost of the trip is $3,700. Since my trip is in January, I will need the money by at least mid-December. If you do decide to support my grand adventure, I would forever be grateful to you. Your support would give me a boost of confidence as I take a step very far out of my comfort zone. Your donation would also give me a connection to you, an opportunity for me to pray for you personally as you take next steps in your own journey. You may have the chance to travel the world. You may be able to share unconditional love with communities everywhere. One person has the potential to change the world, and I would love for you to be part of my journey so that I could be part of yours.

Thank you so much!
