Tia's Successful Brain Surgery-May6

Donation protected
Tia is 20 years old and has a 2.5cm rare symptomatic pineal gland cyst in her brain. The surgery she needs is not available in Canada, so they found an excellent neurosurgeon in the US- and it is not covered by Canadian health care.

In June 2014, Tia’s left leg became paralyzed and she is now in a wheelchair and unable to walk. Her symptoms have escalated over the last 5 years.

Tia lives in the Comox Valley. She suffers from many of the cysts effects; constant painful headache that does not break, intense head pressure, full body pain, muscle weakness, loss of consciousness, extreme fatigue that keeps her in bed and makes it difficult to get out of the house. The insomnia leaves her awake most of the time and she is only able to sleep in 1 ½ hour intervals. Dizziness, nausea, tremors/seizures, balance problems and vertigo are unpredictable and make it hard to get around even at home. She also has difficulty seeing and is unable to read. These symptoms and more keep every day a challenge.

Tia used to have a very active life. After her symptoms began at age 15 and progressively worsened, she had to drop out of school, volunteering in the community and church. She could no longer work, take part in sports, or youth groups, and many other activities that she loved to do. Tia needs assistance with many of the everyday things we take for granted: like getting a glass of water, putting on shoes, help pushing her wheelchair (because she does not yet have the strength to wheel herself), and taking care of her cat.

Her mom (Anne) is supporting and looking after Tia full time. Due to this full time effort from Anne to care for Tia, she is unable to work which makes it near impossible for this surgery to happen without your support.

Tia’s courage, strong faith and smiling face in spite of the challenges and pain are an inspiration.

Tia is scheduled for surgery May 6th 2015 to have the cyst removed. The surgery will reverse and eliminate her symptoms and this has given Tia hope of finally being symptom free. The surgeon will use the least invasive procedure and Tia will be able to heal and recover.

Funds are to pay for Tia’s surgery, hospital, medical stay accommodations, and recovery.

It’s been a long 5 years of waiting for help and she is so looking forward to getting her life back! Thank all for your support, fundraising and prayers!

I thank you so much for any support you can offer for this beautiful young woman to get her life back. May God bless your generousity!
