Help Our Animals Beat the Heat!
Donation protected
The Humane Society of the Black Hills (HSBH) operates the only major animal shelter west of the Missouri River in South Dakota. This campaign is to raise the funds necessary to replace our outdated HVAC system.
During the summer, our stray and adoption areas have reached 90+ degrees with 100% humidity due to insufficient units. The funds will be used to replace our current HVAC system with one that provides optimal temperatures, humidity levels, room air exchanges, and ammonia levels so our animals stay healthy and cool.
Having a new HVAC system would mean so much to our animals and our staff. We want our animals to stay cool this summer and we need your help!
We appreciate any assistance, even the smallest donation will help us reach our goal! All proceeds will be given to the HSBH as a line item specific for the new HVAC system. If you'd like to mail in a donation, please specify this fundraiser and send to:

The HSBH is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has worked with the community to provide shelter and care for lost and abused animals for nearly 50 years. Each year, we rescue over 4,800 animals. Because of the shortage of shelters, animals are picked up and brought to our shelter from as many as 20 different counties. We are also an open admissions shelter – We will not turn away any animal, and we do not put a time limit on an animal’s stay at our facility.
We are not affiliated with any other humane societies and rely on public funding and donations from our community to help us keep our doors open and our facility a safe and healthy environment.
The HSBH also provides animal welfare services and humane law enforcement to Rapid City, SD and Pennington County governments as an independent contractor.
