Help Yentl The Rescue Cat Heal!

Donation protected

In Feb 2017 I lost the love of my life to a sudden heart attack-my 5 year old cat Coco . I was so heartbroken, I said I wouldn't adopt for a very long time. But then I met Yentl who stared at me with her giant green eyes and I didn't think twice.

Yentl was rescued by a vet tech after living on the streets of NYC. After 3 weeks she was transfered to a Brooklyn shelter where I met her. While in the shelter she was not eating very well and the shelter volunteers were syringe feeding her daily. Her vet papers showed that she had been spayed and given all her important shots and tests and was around two years old.

Assuming the eating issue was from the stress of being in a cage in a shelter around other cats, people and strange noises, we adopted her April 8th 2017.

Yentl was very scared at first, but I spent many hours laying on the floor where she was hiding under the bed petting her, feeding her and helping her relax. She quickly started coming out to play, was eating on her own & even getting into bed with me at night. First time snuggling Mom in bed

Upon taking her to her first vet visit, 13 days after her adoption, we were shocked to find after X-rays and an ultrasound that Yentl had not been spayed, was actually only about one year old, and had Pyometra (infection of the uterus). Yentl's uterus was huge from puss and she needed immediate emergency surgery and overnight hospitalization. The vet she saw before the shelter had apparently opened her up, thought she was already spayed and closed her (poorly).

This is where the funding part comes in!
The shelter usually only covers medical for cats if they are taken to the vet who botched her to begin with.

After our cat Coco had major dental surgery just 3 months before dying, my emergency cat fund was pretty depleted. I had to put every penny of this emergency on credit cards. I also lost my 7 day freelance job when I had to call out of work to be with Yentl. When adopting a young cat, I was not expecting thousands of dollars in medical bills so soon after adopting and hoped I'd have more time to save up the emergency cat fund again.
The shelter has offered to help pay Yentl's huge bill but because she did not go back to that awful vet they use, every penny would be directly out of pocket (from an already extremely limited budget they already struggle with.)

I am hoping to ease that burden for them (and us) by having this campaign.

Not only will crowd funding help Yentl become a healthy thriving cat, it will help with the costs of the appts and medicines needed for her ongoing recovery.
If you would like to donate less than the minimum Go Fund Me amount of $5 you can Paypal smaller donations to yentlthecat at gmail.com

I, Yentl, the shelter, and all the other cats who the shelter will be able to help will be forever grateful!
