Hero Hunter

This is Hunter. He is 5 years old.

On the 6th of November 2016 Hunter’s little world changed beyond most people’s comprehension.

Hunter was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. At that moment his life and the life of his Mum Kate, Dad Dave and little brother Zac changed in an instant.

He was immediately admitted to the Oncology Ward 3B at Princess Margaret Hospital in Perth, Western Australia. There followed numerous scans, MRI’s, X-rays, blood tests, trips to theatre, central line implant, IV Chemotherapy, oral Chemotherapy, oral steroids.

The side effects of so many drugs included hair-loss, steroid induce diabetes, intense body pain, nausea, mouth sores, fevers and weight loss to name just a few.

Hunter endured all these treatments with enormous bravery and determination, supported by his loving family. He progressed through the various stages of treatment and in just over a year made it to the Maintenance Stage. He had under18 months to go before he was due to end treatment in January 2020.

Last week Hunter complained of severe pains in his body and was admitted for tests at Perth Children’s Hospital. The next day his family received the devastating news that the cancer had returned.

Hunter’s leukaemia has returned during active treatment, which is very unusual and extremely high-risk.

His immediate family are distraught at this terribly and unexpected development and as the news spread to others a similar reaction was expressed by everyone you knows and love this beautiful child.

So What Now.

Well it’s Hunter v Leukaemia round 2 . The Fight begins again.

Hunter has started a 4-week Intensive Relapse Treatment to kill the cancer cells again and get him back into remission with a prospect of a bone marrow transplant in the coming months.

The 4-week treatment will make this wonderfully bright and beautiful little boy very sick. He has done this before. He is a very smart and switched on boy who knows that the treatment is going to make him sick and he is very scared.

The good news is that Hunter is a fighter and he is supported by a loving and very determined family.

This will be a long fight and not an easy one for Hunter and his family.

This crowdfunding page is being setup with the aim of helping support Hunter’s family through this initial 4 weeks and beyond into the future.

The financial burden on the family is immediate.

Both parents are caring for Hunter, doing tag team at Hunters bedside. His little brother Zac is living with his grandparents and spending time with Kate and Dave at every opportunity.

Dad Dave had to stop work overnight.

There is no family income .

Can you imagine how hard this is for this family?
Well this page is a chance for everyone to help..
Every $ counts.

Are you able to dig deep into your pockets and donate as much as possible to help this very special family. Can you miss a few coffees? Donate that few $$ instead?

They really need your help to survive this journey and they need it now.

Thank you for your support and your donations to help Hero Hunter.
