The Jennie Project
Tax deductible
This project will bring Jennie, a 19 year old Haitian girl who grew up in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquakes to Denver to study Water Quality Management so she can go back to Haiti and help educate her community on ways to improve their water/sanitation.
Jennie is an honor roll student who grew up in the Ouanaminthe community where there was no drinkable or waste water infrastructure. Imagine deciding, on a daily basis, whether to let your child go thirsty or risk cholera.
Jennie was raised by a single mother after her father passed away when she was 14 years old. Her mother recognized that education is key and Jennie, along with her four sisters, have all excelled in school.
Our group has been going to Ouanaminthe, a city of 120,000, to distribute water filters for the past five years. There is never enough so we would like to help the community begin to develop an infrastructure that would give them drinkable water.
So far we have:
* A donor who will match the funds we receive up to $10,000. It's a double bang for your buck.
* A host family who will furnish food and housing for Jennie.
* An acceptance letter from Red Rocks Community College for Jennie's application to attend their Water Quality Management program.
* A graduate from the Water Management program will help tailor the program to fit the specific needs of the Haitian people.
* A working relationship with COCINA, a 501(c)3 so your donations are tax deductable.
* Satchi Fudge candy company is donating chocolate for thank you's.
What we need:
* This is a three part fundraising series. At this point, we need to raise $10,000 by March 30, 2016.
* Your good thoughts and best wishes - and messages of support - for Jennie.
Thank you so very, very much for helping Jennie make a real difference in Haiti.
