The Detroit Urban Habitat Project

Yes it's true! My honeybees are a beautiful shade of Rose Gold and they produce pink honey.
Why? How?
Well I tend to baby my bees. I treat my Queen Bees like royalty and they have responded. Everyday I brew them a special blend of what I call Sweet Bee Tea. They love the natural blend of herbs. Because they are treated so well, the hives are growing very quickly.
Unfortunately when the bees out grow their hive, they will make a swarm and fly away, taking much of the pink honey with them. So in order to keep my Queens happy, I must accommodate them with new hives (super boxes. frames, foundations, Bee food and most importantly winter protection from the Michigan winters.)
Sadly, michigan beekeepers loose their entire hives each winer which means have to buy new bees each spring.
Backstory:
Transforming an empty lot into an urban Habitat for raising and study of Honeybees in a holistic garden is no easy task. Only carefully chosen healing plants like Hibiscus, lavender, Bee Balm, are being grown in this H-4 Yar-den (garden + yarden = Yar-den).
The proceeds are going towards a learning area, equipment, solar security lighting, and expanding the Habitat. Most importantly it will help build a winter shelter for the hives to protect them from the freezing Michigan winters.
Eventually, the @H4Yarden will allow people who have no space for a hive in their yard or apartment, for a hive to Rent-A-Hive, so that they can keep bees, harvest their own honey, but not in their space.
Your donation will help make this all happen.
