Help Us Build A New Tutoring Center

Hello! My name is Ryan Kinchen. I am the founder of High Desert Math Tutor.

In mid-2020, I created High Desert Math Tutor with the goal of helping students of all ages and backgrounds learn to love math and education.

High Desert Math Tutor has been a journey full of problem-solving and struggle, as I dedicated myself 100% to building a student base immediately after graduating from UC Davis in 2020, in the middle of a global pandemic with no income and no outside funding.

I started by holding a homemade High Desert Math Tutor sign on the side of the road and driving from home to home to tutor the few students I managed to find in the midst of the pandemic. Every second and every dollar mattered so much so that I went as far as to tutor students online from my car in between in-person tutoring sessions.

In December of 2020, I was lucky enough to find a small space that I could afford to rent as our first official tutoring center.

Since starting High Desert Math Tutor and to this day, I have invested every dollar I have earned into opening our tutoring center, buying tables, chairs, chalkboards, dry-erase boards, etc. because more than anything, I want to change the stigma against mathematics, and I want to help our community in the High Desert become a stronger, highly educated community.

The proceeds of this GoFundMe campaign will go 100% towards a new and improved High Desert Math Tutor tutoring center. We need a space that is large enough to accommodate a larger number of students in our community, and we need a space that we can use to host the increasing number of community events we sponsor.
