Hilda’s Road To Recovery

My mother, Hilda Benavides, was suddenly paralyzed breast down in surgery in 2012. Before then she was completely fine up walking, working and living by herself. She was hospitalized due to intense pain in her arms legs and feet, and a random fall in the shower. After the surgery, the whole family was devastated and so was our mother. She went in able bodied and came out quadriplegic. She did therapy for a bit, but medical bills after medical bills kept piling up. Now she doesn’t do therapy at all and doctors barely help her. It’s a struggle to go to required checkups at the doctors, because transportation is such a huge issue. She barely has equipment to transfer her out of bed to her wheelchair, and then to get a vehicle to her appointments. My mother doesn’t go outside anymore. She is completely bed ridden now. Her mother who is a bit up in age is taking care of her in her home, which isn’t fair, because she is getting older. After 7 years, I’m now 20 years old, and I’m trying to step in and help out. I’m asking for any help, to be able to provide my mother with a van of our own, a new bed for her, and therapy for my mother. This would mean so much to my mommy and our family.
