Homegrown Smoker Fire Recovery Fund

On the night of June 21st 2017, our tiny green food cart on N. Mississippi Ave. was destroyed by a gas fire. Nothing was salvagable, as you can see in our photos below. We've been serving 100% vegan BBQ & comfort food out of that cart since 2009-- our home of the past eight years is now essentially scrap metal.
This is a devastating blow for our very small, family-owned & operated business. We employ 9 amazing folks, many of whom have been with us for years. For the past few months we have been working toward opening our first full service restaurant in St. John's. Just last week we closed our second location, Homegrown Smokehouse & Deli, to focus our energy on our new restaurant. Our cart always has been the foundation & core of our business - to lose it now completely ceases our income, our ability to employ our crew, and puts a major strain on the opening of our new location. We are insured, but are unsure how much we can expect to receive back or when.
We love Homegrown Smoker, and we are committed to opening our restaurant this summer as planned. Nothing in this life has fulfilled us quite like being a part of the vegan community and bringing our food to y'all. Today we are asking for your help to enable us to complete our restaurant with enough money for operational costs to employ our staff, stock our kitchens, and bring you the food you've grown to love. We are asking for your help to cover damages & re-open the cart when we are able. We are asking for your help to get us back on our feet. It is a privilege to be part of the Portland & Worldwide vegan community, and we hope to return all the love & support you have shown us in tenfold.
Peace begins on your plate.
Love,
Homegrown Smoker
