20 SLEEPING BAGS FOR THE HOMELESS OF PERTH
HERE'S WHY
Driving home yesterday evening through the centre of Perth I noticed a homeless man in a wheel chair, rugged up in barley any clothing, asking for money. I stopped my car and sat down with the man, wanting to get to know him a little better.
it was freezing outsite, 9-10 degrees. I shared with him the contents of my wallet $35-$40 and after our conversation I got back in my car.
On the way home it really got me thinking, how grateful I was to have a car, with warm heating, a house with heating , food and shelter, a roof over my head. Something I, like many, take for granted on a daily basis.
I began researching sleeping bags on Ebay and Gumtree, something good quality I could buy in bulk that could support -15 tempretures. I found a sleeping bag on Gumtree that can be ordered direct for $42, see link attached.http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/perth-cbd/camping-hiking/aus-free-del-arctic-pole-cattle-single-camping-sleeping-bag-w-bag/1112761978
My goal is to buy 20 sleeping bags, donating 10 to the Salvation Army winter appeal and keeping 10 in the back of my car to be handed out to the homeless around Perth during cold nights.
I'm doing this because I can imagine and see myself in every man, woman and child on the street and I believe a sleeping bag, whilst a small gesture will have a major impact on people sleeping on the streets during the cold winter nights.
if you resonate with this appeal, please dontate whatever you can, whatever you're willing to give and I will provide pictures and updates of progress once the target has been met.
Kind Regards,
Morgan.
