Hi I am Snuggles nice to meet you. I got picked up by a young lady 9 days ago and my new journey started. I have to admit I was scared but hopeful. After my first car ride we arrived at her house and nice people washed my eyes and bottom which were very dirty and then I got put in a second car.
This time I was not sure what was going to happen. I had never been in a car before and now twice in one day. We all arrived at Hoo Haven and I heard people talking when we went in the hospital. They seemed so caring but one was upset. She looked at my bottom and looked me over and more was said. Then there were hugs and I was sure things were going to be OK.
I was washed again and they put medicine in my eyes which burned at first but in about 5 minutes my eyes felt better than they had felt in a long time. I was then put in a basket with very soft things which I later found out were called towels and I was placed where it was cool, nice and no bugs. The food they put before me I had never seen before. It was funny to watch them. They added warm water to this substance and I loved it. Hamburger is great. I get vitamins, 3 different kinds of lettuce, watermelon, duck food, grains and more. This place is great.
They then put me in an odd thing with wheels. It held me off the ground and Karen (I found out her name) wrapped both my legs and velcroed me in. I can move for the first time in my life but not good enough. They play with me a lot, clean me and I watch TV with them.
I have been taken to a machine shop that is going to make me a new wheelchair even better.
I did not mention I am 2 years old and have never walked in my life. My left leg was born defective with the joint not meeting and my right leg is weak from never being used. I sometimes cried when I could not move and I had to stay in one place. Here at Hoo they carry me everywhere until all is settled. Everyone does their best, I am just glad I am at Hoo Haven now.
Everyday they give me water therapy to make my legs stronger. They have a new bird called “Buttercup” . She is a 8 week old baby pelican and she loves me and stays by me all the time. We are buds.
Hoo Haven now wants to get a prosthesis for my worst leg. I have an appointment to get this done as Hoo states it just has to be this way. . It will cost over $2500. Karen states I represent hope that people want to help if just told about what is needed. I hope you are one of those wonderful people that will help me be mobile.
Soon I hope Hoo Haven “Go Fund Me” will help support their endeavors for the prosthetic and I will be showing it off soon. Thank you for being a “Hoo” Haven Angel.
