Abigail's Opportunity of a Lifetime

I've been accepted to go on a Leadership Training Trip for three weeks this summer to South Africa! In order to be accepted, I had to sumbit a lengthy application and I also went through a series of interviews with multiple leaders. Out of 33 applicants, I was one of 11 that was selected!
The organization is called Dustin's Greenhouse. They are located right here in Greensboro, NC. Their focus is on interactive and “outside of the classroom” learning environments with emphasis on self-actualization, service learning and global exploration. While we are in Africa, we will be doing activities such as staying in orphanage homes, a great white shark dive, multiple service projects in Cape town and Johannesburg, visiting historical sites such as Nelson Mandela's home and the prison he was kept in, camping in Kruger National Park with the wild animals, and many other activites that have yet to be released!
Dustin's Greenhouse's goal is to really transform our view on the world to better prepare us for college and the real world. Once we get back from South Africa, the adventure continues with 2 years of leadership training here at home.
I decided to apply to Dustin's Greenhouse because I think these qualities of leadership, organizing, and global experience will be invaluable both personally and professionally to my future. I can only imagine how this experience will impact applying for colleges, deciding on and carrying out future career plans and impact my view of how I can better myself and the world around me. It feels like the opportunity of a lifetime and I didn't want to pass it up!
Part of the program challenges me to raise a portion of the funds needed for the trip. The leader talked about how working on our own to acheive a goal helps us to take more ownership in the process. Fundraising is our first challenge within this program. GoFundMe is just the first of many ideas I have to accomplish my goal of having the funds to participate in this 3 week abroad and then the 2 year at home program.
I would be so grateful and it would be very much appreciated if you could help support this dream.
My first deadline is Februrary 29th to help me be able to go on this adventure of a lifetime to South Africa!
