HUMBLE ART COLLECTIVE

Donation protected
Dear community,

Your support will go into financing the logistics and programming for the production of the exhibition of the art collective HUMBLE. The proposal was accepted at BronxArtSpace, NYC which will host and promote the exhibition. It will take place from September 1–October 13, 2018.

The funds raised will help to provide an honorarium for each artist. This contribution will be significant in covering travel costs and shipping.

This exhibition aims to contextualize the contemporary work of fifteen artists that represent various tribal nations across the USA. Formed in the mid-2000s, HUMBLE is an interdisciplinary art collective, at the time-based at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Today, the collective has continued through individuals that have continued their art practices, furthered their studies, and continue to exhibit nationally and internationally.

The purpose of this exhibit is to create a space that lauds these cultural producers, in a collective platform. Most importantly, it will establish a conversation with native artists residing and working in New York City.  All together it will break away from a homogeneous voice of indigeneity into a deeper conversation of contemporary living and the legacy of indigeneity.

Thank you for reading and considering your donation. As a curator focused on the creative endeavors by overlooked communities my goal is to change the landscape of what is viewed and seen. In this case, the contemporary is the very present work of Native artists across the country.

For each artist, as an entrepreneurial cultural worker, this exhibit will contribute to their artistic careers, in addition to the conversations that will contextualize their work. The combination of these elements will bring a diverse audience to their work.

For your generous donation, I will be able to offer private tours of the exhibition. For donations above of $100 and above there will be a dinner set up with the gallery, artists, and curators.

Thank you!
