Nancy Leila Roberts is a community member and True North volunteer who is assisting  with this fundraiser. She is a friend of Claudia Portillo and her family. Nancy Leila Roberts will be withdrawing the funds on behalf of Claudia. Claudia has asked the Nancy Leila Roberts hold the funds until she can reopen a bank account. Once this is done, the funds will be transfered directly in to Claudia's account via electronic transfer or check. Thank you.

6/19/18 Update: Good news! With the generous support of the Humboldt County and global community, Claudia will be coming home to her family this week!

Unexpected news: Claudia’s bond was $12,000. This was 2 1/2 times the lawyer’s high estimate. For the time being this go fund me will remain open. Many thanks to you all! ❤️❤️❤️

The goal of this fundraiser is to support travel costs for Claudia's family to attend her bond hearing this Monday, June 18, 2018. Any additional funds will go towards Claudia's bond. After waiting for seven months for any news about Claudia's case, her family now has only one week to raise funds for this event. Claudia's story is about a woman who is missing from her community that she contributes to and helps to make a better place. This fundraising campaign is about a community showing up to support one of their own. Do you know someone who goes to adopt a dog, only to come home with a litter of 12? Then, takes the time to find good homes for all of them? That is Claudia Portillo! We all know someone like Claudia and we know that people like her make our community a better place.
