Bill Henderson's Recovery Fund
Donation protected
I'm Dawnne Greene, and I'm blessed to call Bill Henderson my uncle. I'm writing from the heart today for raise money for my Uncle Bill and his family while he recovers from devastating injuries caused from a fall.
On October 1st, my uncle went on a youth hunting trip that would allow one of his twin sons to practice his bow skills. My uncle wasn't hunting - he was there to mentor his son and keep him safe. They decided to split up, and my Uncle Bill climbed up a tree and waited while his son practiced. Exercising caution, the two kept in contact via cell phones. His son heard a loud crash from his location in the woods, and texted my uncle a few times but getting no response (which is very unlike his dad). But Uncle Bill couldn't answer - the rope on his tree stand had snapped, and he had plummeted 25 feet to the ground below. His solid six-foot frame had crashed into the hard, immovable earth.
That he is alive is a miracle. My uncle would have died of internal bleeding caused by his hepatic artery bursting from the force of impact. It is a testimony to God's amazing grace, my uncle's strength of will and talented medical staff that he is alive.
Uncle Bill suffered severe internal injuries, fractured ribs, crushed vertebrae, a broken leg and hip, collapsed lungs... the list can and does go on. He has fought many infections and when it seems like he is making great strides, another complication rears its ugly head to push the recovery timeline back further. He is still hospitalized, and there is no future date for him to released.
My uncle is an avid sportsman who loves to fish, hunt, and just get outside and discover. He is passionate about metal detecting and finding lost treasure like Indiana Jones. He is a wonderful husband, father of teenage twin boys as well as a devoted and loving son, brother, uncle (great uncle too!) and cousin. A friend who would do anything to help. He loves practical jokes, and he is the best secret keeper in the world!
A self-made man who was self-employed and supported his family by the fruits of his hard manual labor. Hard manual labor that he has been unable to do for over a month, and will not be able to do any time in the near future - if ever.
Thankfully, a few people hadn't paid him yet for his services and that money has helped his family stay afloat. But there are still people who owe him money for work already done, know what happened to him and still haven't paid.
He is the sole provider for his family and money is no longer coming in. Yet the demands for money continue - mortgage, food, gas, utilities and insurance to name a few. I can't even contemplate how much money will be owed for healthcare expenses once he is back on his feet. It will most likely be hundreds of thousands.
Funds are needed now, and those raised from this gofundme request will be immediately used to cover the needs outlined above - food, shelter, and heat since winter is fast approaching.
My uncle has never asked for a handout. He is a proud, self-sufficient man who built his own business by his attention to detail, upstanding character, honesty and dependability. I know that it is killing him mentally and stressing him further imagining what will happen to his family while he is laid up in a hospital bed - still unable to move, talk or even drink water.
I firmly believe that his physical recovery would be doubly strengthened and accelerated if he was assured that we have his back and that his family will be safe along with everything else that he has worked so hard for throughout his life.
So, I will ask - any amount that you can donate is greatly appreciated. Your willingness to share this link to your friends and family is greatly appreciated as well. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
