Jason Hurst Music Education Fund

“Musical training is a more potent instrument than any other, because rhythm and harmony find their way into the inward places of the soul” -- Plato
This fund has been established in loving memory of Jason Hurst, who died on November 18, 2017, at age 50 following a long illness. Full of energy and passion, Jason was a beacon of light and laughter who touched so many lives with his quick wit and caring heart.
His true gift was music, his voice into which he poured his heart and soul. A graduate of South High School in Springfield, Ohio, Jason graduated from Cumberland College in Kentucky, earning a bachelor's degree in music education. J-Bird's skills on the saxophone were renowned in the Dayton-area music scene. He played in such bands as Blues Monkey, Easy Money and, most notably, High Strung.
Funds raised through this campaign will benefit the Springfield City School District music education program to ensure that other young musicians like Jason are able to find their voices.
Any size donation is welcome so we can create a chorus that will memorialize Jason's talent and create a lasting legacy.
