HELP SAVE U.S. VETERANS LIVES

Donation protected
The National Hyperbaric Assoication is a 501(C) 3

Goal: $38,000

Background:

Many of our U.S. Veterans, from Vietnam to the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts, have wounds that are not so apparent but still have significant negative effects on their lives. 22 of them commit suicide every day. Another 44 veterans and service members attempt suicide but are unsuccessful each day. This is an epidemic that must be addressed and a solution found.

For many of our veterans, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, where a patient breathes 100% pure oxygen in a pressured environment, has proven to be a safe and effective treatment. And for some U.S. Veterans it can mean the difference between life and death.

In 2003, the U.S. Department of Defense became aware that significant populations of U.S. Veterans were returning from the combat zones with a distinctive pattern of wounding, often including PTSD. Leaders within the Hyperbaric field were summoned to Washington D.C. in a comprehensive effort to develop a therapeutic approach to address these veterans unique needs.

Four research studies have been funded and completed by the Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

One study regarding the benefits of hyperbaric treatment indicated: “Significant improvements in post concussion symptoms and secondary outcomes, including PTSD (which most participants had), depression, sleep quality, satisfaction with life and physical, cognitive and mental heath function”. (Col Scott Miller, https://www.research.va.gov/currents/winter2015/winter2015-9.cfm) The principle investigator of the largest study indicated: “people did get better and we can’t ignore those results”.

Project:

We will be on a Fox Business show that will air an educational segment on Hyperbaric Oxygen on Veterans Day 2017, which will reach over 200 cities and 140 countries.

The showcase will also be distributed to Voice of America Television. VOA is a division of the U.S. Governments News and Information Service. Known as the “International CNN”, Voice of America.

A 30-second commercial will run on stations such as Discovery, FOX Business, CNN and TLC, and a press release will be distributed through services such as VOCUS, PR Newswire, and Marketwire prior to the telecast

The National Hyperbaric Association needs your support to get the medical community, insurers, and our elected official to understand and support the benefits of hyperbaric treatment. Please donate today.

The NHA Organization:

The National Hyperbaric Association, a 501(C) 3, is dedicated to advancing the benefits and practice of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and related treatments.

One of our goals is to ensure that our Nation’s Veterans and active duty personnel have access to therapies that can help treat neurological injuries, like Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). We want these technologies to be covered by insurers in the public and private sectors, to help our Nation’s service members to heal.
