I stand with Paula Scarlett-Brown

Paula Scarlett-Brown, is a woman of great faith and courage. She was born and raised in New York where she has worked tirelessly as an Educator, teacher and spiritual mother to many for most of her life. Paula has also been a devout member of Pilgrim Church Brooklyn for 28 years.

She worked at P.S. 251 as a teacher and staff developer from 1993 until shortly after marrying Archbishop Roy E Brown. She then went on to become principal of the Pilgrim Christian Academy for several years but was forced to resign and become her husband's full time caretaker for 13 years when he took ill with diabetes and kidney failure.


Why Paula Scarlett-Brown needs our help:

Sadly Paula’s husband of 22 years, Archbishop Roy E Brown passed away in early June 2018 and she has struggled to cope with the deep sense of loss and grief that she feels.

On top of this, on Friday August 17th Paula's Church of 28 years gave her TEN DAYS notice of their intention to make her HOMELESS on August 27th! This notice was stuck on her front door in full view of public for all to see.

Caring for her sick husband on a full time basis for the last 13 years has taken a heavy toll on Paula's own health. Paula is actively seeking employment however she is suffering from some very serious health problems which greatly affect her quality of life on a daily basis.

I started this Go Fund to help Paula cover adequate accommodation, her legal fees and medical insurance until she gets back on her feet. 

We would like to thank everyone for their prayers for Paula Scarlett-Brown at this difficult time. However there is so much more we can do. It wasn’t prayer alone that began the civil rights movement, fought apartheid, stopped the holocaust or helped women & people of colour get the vote. When Jesus heard about the 5,000 hungry people he didn’t just pray he FED them!

URGENT UPDATE: Since setting up the Go Fund page Paula has recieved yet another 10 day notice stuck on her front door by Pilgrim church. In addition to this the stress has caused her health to deteriorate to the point where she is now unfit to work.  As a conseequence she needs our support more than ever. Your donations will help greatly with legal representation and medical bills while she gets back on her feet.

It broke my heart because never in my life have I ever received a notice to quit my home within 10 days. It never entered my mind that the church that I served at for 28 years would do such a thing to me. I am still deeply heartbroken."
