I Stayed Here Till' The Disco Ended
Donation protected
"I Stayed Here till' the Disco Ended" is a forthcoming art installation by Niki Voyeur. The installation is devised from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's "the Sorcerer's Apprentice" and will be on display at the Hatch Gallery in Hamtramck in October 2017.
Featuring hard crack candy casts of broomsticks, a very large puddle, a bloated and melty witch, handmade adidas apparel, and a multi channel art film the installation imagines what happens to the far reaching “apprentice” if no “master” shows up to save them from their folly.
The work is a piece of an ongoing project entitled Staying on Brand in these the Days of the Wicked West which seeks to dissect the effects of mass culture, branding, and neoliberalism in this particularly decadent time in western history.
