Ian Tyler's Fight Against RMC

Donation protected
The Past:
On February 9th, 2018 at 2am, I went to the ER with severe abdominal pains in my lower left quadrant, and was admitted due to the severity of the pain. I had x-rays and MRIs taken and found that my lymph nodes around my left kidney had been swollen and that I had lesions on my left kidney, my liver, and a small blockage in my left urethra. I later had a cystoscopy and had a stent placed in my left urethra. They determined that the unknown cells in my liver, bones, and kidney had metastasized, but could not determine what type of cancer it was. So they released me to follow up with my doctors outside of the hospital. Over the next couple of weeks, I was in and out of the hospital, with various problems. After a surgery to take a large chunk of my left inguinal (groin) lymph node, they determined that I had Renal Medullary Carcinoma, a very rare and aggressive type of kidney cancer known to be connected to the sickle cell trait. My first chemo treatment was on March 1st, and I had a mediport implanted on that next Monday.

The Present:
I'm currently raising money to help my family pay for my college loans that I will undoubtedly not be able to do myself .  There are also medical and travel expenses associated with my diagnosis and palliative treatment.

The Future:
My future is very limited and I'm trying to do as much as I can to get better.  I'm currently doing well but I don't know how long that will continue.  I'd like to be able to help my family cover the costs of my inevitable end of life expenses.
