We created this page for those who feel they want to reach out to Mary and Sam Ibrahim. They are a Havertown family that has lived here for 16 years. Their two daughters, Mia, age 9, and Sophia, age 7, attend Manoa Elementary School. If your children attend JK Gymnastics or Movements in Motion dance studio I’m sure you’ve seen their smiling faces.
Mary was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. After undergoing treatment for many years, her condition worsened and it was no longer effective. Mary decided that she wished to be at home to spend time with Sam, her daughters and her family, but never stopped fighting. She passed away the morning of June 12, 2019.
Although Mary fought this battle for quite some time, most of us wouldn’t have known. Sam and Mary always remained private about their struggle, protecting their girls and their loved ones. Those closest to them knew of Mary’s cancer but accepting help is difficult for them. They were determined to conquer this disease on their own, without burdening anyone. They’ve remained steadfast and humble trying to handle it themselves.
We want to reassure them this community has their back and show them the love they have shown each other and so many. They unfortunately had to plan and save for the unthinkable, and as their friends we want to make it easier to see them continue all the treasured activities and educational opportunities that were always Mary’s priority.
