Descendants Of Kings' biggest passion is to see the young people positively impacted and thriving with support (where possible) from their family, friends and the community. Because of this, we have created Iceberg Mentoring Services.
We are raising money so that the young people involved in the mentoring programme already have a sense of the community wanting them to succeed. This is a way for the local community to get involved and know first hand what work is being done with some of the young people in the area facilitated by those who have a passion to create change no matter how small.
The project offers a tailored approach to the young person and their needs with a selection of accredited life skill sessions that can support the young person and the mentor on their personal journey no matter where they are in life; ensuring the experience for both is rewarding, enlightening and shared.
At the end of the project, all that have been able to contribute (benefactors and patrons) will have a chance of being honoured for their support by having an award named after them at the graduation ceremony. At the graduation ceremony the participants will have a portfolio presented to them with an assessment of their journey from start to finish with any certificates of accreditation they would have earned from completing the various life skills sessions and volunteering over the duration of the project.
The reason for the funding is to show the community that if we all take an invested interest in our young people we can have a say in what extra curricular support and learning they could receive without having to depend on others but more on those who have the passion, guile and skills to get the job done. Also for young people to see that people care and are willing to put their money where their mouth is.
