Breast Cancer and a Wedding!

Hi!!!! My name is Ericka Hart (in the photo: I am the one on the left), I am 28 years old and on May 20, 2014 I found out that I have bilateral breast cancer. Before I received my diagnosis, I spent the previous weeks and days holding my breast hoping for a negative diagnosis of breast cancer and when I received the news from the doctor my heart sank. He explained to me that 'times had changed and people are surviving cancer at greater lengths than in the past' and I was still terrified. As you can imagine many questions ran through my mind. One of those questions was- will I be able to get married on September 20, 2014. My partner and I have been planning our wedding for what has felt like forever and three months before the big day, we received a major curve ball. I was ecstatic when my doctor assured me that I will not only be at my wedding but I will look BEAUTIFUL! :)

Everyone experiences their diagnosis with cancer differently, I personally prefer to be in high spirits and keep a positive mindset. However, when it comes to managing the logistics and finances of cancer it can be difficult to keep a smile on your face. And we are not just managing medical bills for cancer, we are planning our wedding.
