In een tuktuk door India voor het goede doel!

Twee weken lang op een rammelende, overdekte scooter dwars door India om geld op te halen voor het goede doel. Wat zijn jouw Nieuwjaarsvoornemens?

In december reizen wij (Ruud, Sifra en Loes) als team Dutch Delhicacy af naar India om mee te doen aan de Rickshaw Run. De Rickshaw Run is een soort race, afgelegd in een wel heel bijzonder voertuig: een Rickshaw, ook wel bekend als de Tuktuk. Dit is een soort overkapte scooter op drie wielen en een onwijs populaire manier van vervoer in de Indiase steden. Gedrieën zullen wij ons in deze minibroodtrommel proppen om 2400km door India te reizen voor het goede doel.  Twee goede doelen zelfs. Het eerste doel is ‘Cool Earth’, een project dat samenwerkt met de lokale bevolking om het kappen van tropisch regenwoud tegen te gaan. Zie https://www.coolearth.org/. Behalve ‘Cool Earth’ steunen wij ook het lokale project 'Educate Girls', dat zich richt op beter onderwijs voor Indiase meisjes in het bijzonder. Vrouwen in India hebben namelijk een achtergestelde positie en het is heel normaal dat Indiase meisjes niet naar school gaan om thuis te helpen in het huishouden of worden uitgehuwelijkt als kindbruid. Help jij ons het regenwoud beschermen en Indiase meisjes een toekomst te geven?

De eerste 500euro die wij ophalen gaat rechtstreeks naar 'Cool Earth' en elke euro daar bovenop komt volledig ten goede aan 'Educate Girls'. Onze eigen uitgaven betalen we uit eigen zak. Wel zo eerlijk. De komende weken zullen wij onze actie onder de aandacht brengen en tot februari kun je via deze pagina geld doneren.  Wij zijn blij met elk bedrag en elke euro helpt ons om de wereld een beetje mooier te maken!

Two weeks in a rattling, covered scooter across India to raise money for charity. What are your New Year's resolutions?

In December we (Ruud, Sifra and Loes) are going to travel to India as team Dutch Delhicacy to participate in the Rickshaw Run. The Rickshaw Run is a race, carried out in a very special vehicle: a Rickshaw, also known as the Tuktuk. The Rickshaw is a covered scooter on three wheels and a very popular way of transport within the Indian cities. The three of us will cramp ourselves in this mini lunchbox to travel 2400km of Indian lands in order to raise money for charity. Two charities actually. The first one is ‘Cool Earth’, a project that works with local communities to stop deforestation of the tropical rainforest. View their website at https://www.coolearth.org/. Except for ‘Cool Earth’ we would also like to support the local project ‘Educate Girls’, that strives to enhance education for Indian girls in particular. Women in India suffer from a disadvantaged position and it is very common that Indian girls don’t go to school to help out in the household, or are being sold as child brides. Will you help us to protect the rainforest and provide Indian girls with a better future?

The first 500 euros we raise go straight to ‘Cool Earth’ and every extra euro will go to the Indian project ‘Educate Girls’. We will pay for our own expenses. That seems only fair. The next few weeks we will promote our adventure and you will be able to donate money untill february.
