In Memory of Kay Buckley (Rob Buckley Scholarship)

Tax deductible
In Memory of Kay Buckley.  The "In Lieu of Flowers" for Kay Buckley's Memorial Service and obituary (and for as long as people want to donate)  will be donations to the Glen Ridge Educational Foundation (GREF) who has graciously agreed to use the money to fund  the 'Robbie Buckley Scholarship"  at Glen Ridge High School.  This scholarship started in 1993 after Rob's death.  Kay started funding it a decade or so ago out of pocket after donations were depleted. The scholarship has not been given the last few years, not because of lack of money, but mom would write a personal letter to each recipient with a picture of Rob (doing what Rob did best - loving those who didn't frequently get love) and then would have lunch with the scholarship recipient to find out more about them so she could pray for them and keep in touch (and all of you just thought - of course she did).  Since she wasn't able to have lunch and/or write the letter these last few years, she decided not to do the scholarship. I think that refunding this scholarship creates a full circle effect and pleases my mom. I will be writing the letter to the recipient and possibly grabbing lunch with them. FYI - the scholarship has nothing to do with grades, sports or achievements. It is a scholarship given for one's personality traits of kindness, inclusiveness, and looking for the good in others (aka - Rob Buckley).  It is recognizing and rewarding being a good, good person.

The Buckley's (Jim, Kay, Rob and Dave (me)) thank you for your generosity that helps young people - a group so near and dear to Kay's teacher's heart.
