In Memory of Sgt. Anthony Stroup

Hi All! My name is Dena. I'm presently starting a gofundme account for my best friend, Shannon Stroup and her two children Landon and Hailee, to help with the funeral costs of burying her husband, Sgt. Anthony Stroup.

On Monday, September 18, 2017, Anthony lost his great battle with PTSD. Anthony was an amazing husband, father, son, friend, and genuinely a wonderful person.

He was deployed to Iraq during his time with the United States Army. He was a disabled combat veteran who faced a host of challenges with his health after leaving service. He was proactive in his health, and tried so hard to overcome every obstacle he faced. Unfortunately, his battle was insurmountable.

While we know that Anthony is no longer suffering, Shannon, Landon and Hailee have been left with enormous grief having lost their amazing husband and father. The burden of having to worry financially about the future is something I personally would like to help lift off of their shoulders.

Presently they are trying to plan his funeral. The costs of funerals on average are $7-10k. The cost to transport him back from Florida to his home in Alabama to be buried is $2k, without actual burial costs.

As a disabled veteran, Anthony did not have an enormous source of income. On top of that, Shannon has now been left alone in Florida with the children without any other family near.

I would like to raise enough money that they are able to pay for the funeral costs, have money set aside to help them relocate closer to family, and not have to immediately worry about how Shannon will support the kids on her own.
