Injured Officer's Fund
Donation protected
Saturday, September 3, 2016, two Fresno County correctional officers were shot while on duty at the Fresno County Jail. They were working in the lobby when a suspect entered and began firing. One officer is in surgery after being critically hurt by a gunshot. A second officer, also struck is in critical, but stable condition.
We are praying for them, and their families as doctors work to save their lives at Community Regional Medical Center. They are receiving excellent care and the staff is in constant contact with relatives about their status.
It has been a very difficult day for many in our community, especially those who work alongside these correctional officers. The shooting has been a stunning reminder of the constant dangers of this job.
Deputies and correctional officers have been gathering at the Fresno Deputy Sheriff's Association headquarters at 1360 Van Ness Ave since the incident occurred.
We are working to provide support services for those directly affected by this tragic event. In the meantime, we are offering a place for officers to gather, talk, decompress, and eat.
Already, members of the public have been dropping off donations of soft drinks, water, etc. We would like to thank you for such kindness during this sad time. The past few days, we have been receiving requests locally and throughout the country about donations to help the injured correctional officers and their families as they recover from the tragic shooting that took place this morning.
Those wishing to write a check may make it payable to: Fresno Deputy Sheriff's Association.
In the memo column, please write: Injured officers fund. Checks can be mailed to FDSA, 1360 Van Ness Avenue, Fresno, CA 93721.
Donations of other items may be brought to FDSA Headquarters.
Lastly the GoFundMe account is now open for any other monitary donations anyone wants to make towards both officers and their families.
