Inner City Helping Homeless
Donation protected
The homeless charity Inner City Helping Homeless provides a frontline outreach service covering the city of Dublin.
They recently turned down a donation of nearly €2,000 from the sex trade website Escort Ireland.
Pimp owned Escort Ireland is the largest sex trade profiteer in this country, making hundreds of thousands of euro every month. Escort Ireland 'raised' the money by donating 2 euro for every 'review' posted in the first two weeks of December. (A review is when a sex buyer writes about his hour or half hour with a woman in prostitution, rating her as he would a hotel, for a variety of categories, and complaining about things he didn't like). Their 'fundraising' of a mere €1,800 is a cynical move to use the horrific and deeply insulting 'review' system as a gimmick to appear generous and socially responsible. Encouraging sex buyers to take part in this system in order to donate to charity is beyond offensive.
We at sex trade Survivor group SPACE International understand homelessness. Many of our members had to enter the sex trade due to homelessness and poverty and being targeted by pimps while sleeping rough. Our founder Rachel Moran was a homeless fifteen year old sexually exploited child. Our members intimately understand the desperation and urgent need for homelessness support and we stand in complete solidarity with the homeless.
We are incredibly grateful to ICHH for having the integrity and understanding not to accept this money.
But we now we want to match the money they turned down.
This is where the money will go:
- Outreach team of volunteers who work 10 pm to 2 am Monday to Friday.
- Outreach operates 16 hours daily.
-Rough sleepers are offered the oppurtunity to access a bed if available or given a sleeping bag, some hot drinks, food and a chat from our outreach volunteers.
- A day service provides client case management, advocating for clients who are finding it hard to gain access to services.
We need your help to get them the 2k they deserve.
Please donate anything you can and share widely.
In solidarity,
the members of Space International.
