Irma - Operation Rebuild

HURRICANE FUNDRAISER FOR PAUL & DEBBIE PRINCE – IRMA OPERATION REBUILD

Irma Arrival ~
As many of us watched Irma safely from our homes praying that our loved ones would remain safe, we held our hopes high and kept our faith strong that our family and friends would make it out okay.

Irma arrived in Leighigh Acres, FL on Saturday, September 9th. The worst part of the storm passed over them on Sunday, September 10th around 7 pm; shortly after we lost contact with them which was around 630 pm. By then, the wind was blowing so hard, between 130 and 150 mph, that it was blowing the water into their house. By 11:30 pm they heard the gurgling of the water as it was entering the house. By Monday morning their lawn and street was covered with over 3 feet of water and there was between 4 and 5 inches of water in their house.

There was so much water in the streets surrounding the house that they were not able to leave their house at this point. They lost power Sunday afternoon and it was off for 4 days. They were left with no electricity, very little cell service and were unable to reach their families to let them know they were ok. They were left without the use of their bathroom so they had to wade through 3 feet of water to use the porta-pottie that was located on the golf course. When Irma left Florida, it left Floridians shell shocked and desperate for help.

Irma Aftermath ~
Paul and Debbie lost the lower 2 feet of all the walls in their house, all wooden furniture, both bathroom and kitchen cabinets, and anything else that was left on the floor. All the doors in the house had swelled because they were saturated with water for so long they would no longer close. The sliding glass doors and the French doors were also destroyed in addition. They also have to pull up all the flooring throughout the entire house. There was so much damage that they needed to find other living arrangements. They were fortunate to have relatives close by who offered the use of their home to Paul and Debbie.

Irma - Operation Rebuild ~
Paul and Debbie are the type of folks who will drop what they are doing at any given moment just to lend a helping hand; whether it is for family, friends, neighbors or a complete stranger. Now it’s time for us to gather together and do what we can to rebuild. The estimated cost of damages so far exceeds $25,000. This was by far the worst storm they have ever experienced. We are praying that as a family, as friends and as a community who has gained every time Paul and Debbie have jumped to help, we can come together to help them with the financial burden of the Rebuild.
